Supply Drive

On May 19th the Junior League of Montclair-Newark will also host two important supply drives at the House Tour & Boutique to help our community friends and partners. If you would like to donate items, please bring them to Van Vleck when you check in for your tour. We thank you in advance for your support of these two initiatives!

1. Help Us Stock Local Teachers’ Supply Closets
The JLMN Provisional Class (i.e., our new members) is preparing to complete their final project of the year. The goal of the project is to stock the kindergarten art teachers’ supply closet at Watsessing Elementary School in Bloomfield, as well as to provide crayons and markers for each kindergarten student. We are seeking donations of markers, paint, brushes, dry erase boards and other art supplies or school supplies in general.

If you are unable to bring a donation but would still like to contribute, please contact Heather LeClair at or Karen Evans at to coordinate a separate gift. Donations will be delivered to the Watsessing School on June 7th.  Every little bit helps – so thanks in advance!

2. SHIP Supply Drive

The JLMN is also working with the School of Social Work at Rutgers University on behalf of the Transitions for Youth “Summer Housing Internship Program” (SHIP). This program supports young people who were placed in foster care as minors and who have overcome great obstacles to go to college. These motivated and resilient students are in need of assistance in obtaining food and basic household supplies during the summer months between college semesters. A full list of requested items is attached below.

If you have any questions about either supply drive, please contact the JLMN at  Thank you!
